Blogging Marathon # 69 - 3 Day Marathon for 4 weeks!

I am happy to announce the themes for the October 2016 and open for sign ups!

We are deep into our necks cooking in a hurry for the Cooking Carnival we have lined up for the whole of September 2016. I know I can't wait for the midnight when we get to reveal our themes. It's going to be yet another exciting marathon. Join us for the fun!

Meanwhile, let me go ahead with announcing the themes for Oct regular BM

If you are new and want to join us, check out the BM Guidelines and Rules

Since we have a month to prepare, please avoid doing last minute posting, prepare ahead and schedule, which should give you enough time to read the fellow participating blogger's post in leisure.

I also decided I will be little more strict in handling late posts. I know real life sometimes becomes very tough to manage. However, if you know it is going to be so, please do not sign up. I will understand. But if you are signing up, then I expect you to be prompt in posting and reading fellow BM blogs.

For details on BM held every month, check out the Blogging Marathon page. Once I get all details I will be updating this page. Bloggers taking part in this marathon need to just link back to the BM page.

The entry is again by Sign ups and each theme will again have only 4 bloggers on first come first basis. 

And because of the new rules, I will not be able to accept late sign ups as it will become extremely hard for me to manage otherwise. If you feel you want to do it, please decide ahead, else you can join later.

Commenting on the participating blogger's post is mandatory.

The subscription to the group will be on monthly basis.

3, 4, 5 October 
10, 11, 12 October
17, 18, 19 October
24, 25, 26 October

FYI:  Requests to join after 08th Sep will not be accepted.

Mandatory rules for this Blogging Marathon are as below:
  • Should take up 2 weeks of BM without fail. It can be any two weeks.
  • Will have to post on all 3 days with 2 weeks without fail
  • You cannot take the same themes, except for the different Kid's Delight theme.
  • Should follow the accepted theme all 3 days, meaning if you choose one topic like Rice, you should post all rice based recipes all 3 days.
  • Should link to the Blogging Marathon page.
  • Is expected to actively give feedback on others post.
  • Mandatory reading and commenting on the fellow participating member.
Each theme can be selected by four bloggers on first come first bases. 

Other rules will be mailed to the individuals.

Themes for BM # 69th will be the following:

Kid's Delight theme ensures my Kid's Delight event, guest hosted by other bloggers gets good entries. Since the event is 16th - 15th every month, we have two different themes happening for BM in a month. And you have the choice of doing two different themes. 

Kid's Delight - Anniversary Party (3,4,5 and 10,11,12)
Kid's Delight - Fruit based recipes (17,18,19 and 24,25,26)

Please note all entries for Kid's Delight theme have to be kid approved. The dish can be either approved by your own kid, your young relatives, neighbors or even something that you enjoyed as a kid. Do remember to mention the age group of the kid, so that it becomes easy for others.

Kid's Delight - Anniversary Party (3,4,5 and 10,11,12) 

Anniversary party for the Kid's Delight marks the anniversary celebration of this blog. Every year I host it to celebrate the day I finally opened up this blog to record my thoughts and things. Do join me for a celebration with a dish that suits a kid and a kids party!

Kid's Delight - Fruit based recipes (17,18,19 and 24,25,26)  

The 3rd and 4th week of October will be hosted by Varada. She is calling for Fruit based recipes that are Kid friendly. She will be announcing the event on her blog by 15th October, please await her post for more specific rules.

Do either US States or the Indian State Sweets

You can either pick up USA or India and do 3 sweets. All three need not be from the same state. Again the sweetener can be your choice.

Flatbreads

I love flatbreads and won't mind drooling over them again. So bring them on! The choice is yours.

4 Ingredient Recipes

Any dish made with just 4 ingredients. Anything less than a teaspoon can be ignored, however with the proportion of the other ingredients. 

Below are some of the combinations that you can consider as an ingredient.

A mix of nuts that are used as a garnish.
South Indian Tempering ingredients.
Oil, Sugar, Salt (less than 1 tsp)

Recipes with Shelf Life

As the theme says it can be anything that has a good shelf life. Shelf Life typically can vary with the storage, dish as such. So you need to specify the shelf life of the dish and how it needs to be stored to achieve that shelf life. All condiments come under this theme.

Homemade Chinese Takeaway Food

I came across this list and was so attracted by the good looking pictures. As a vegetarian I have very less choice, I still want to try some of the dishes on that list! Hope many pick up this theme.

Eggless Triple Chocolate Coffee Brownie

We are beginning the final week of BM#67, I have planned to make Triple the dose! When I thought of this theme, I was exploding with ideas and naturally all of them had to do with chocolate. I strictly decided that I will not do all the three on chocolate. For now, only this post is ready, so let's see how it goes.

Things are going at snail pace on the migration front. I faced a couple of issues that prevented me from going ahead with the original plan. Now I am not even sure when the work will be done. I am so saddened by the fact that I haven't posted anything the whole of this month!

Hoping things will move soon. Anyway, I have not been in touch with so many things that I failed to noticed that I haven't had anything ready for this week yet.

My progress on September cooking is almost zero, this is the first time I have been so unprepared and unplanned for a Mega BM. I am hoping I will make it. This Triple  Chocolate Brownie saved the day as I was supposed to bake something special as Chinnu came runners in a table tennis match. He remembered that I had baked a cake when Peddu won a prize for running. I was surprised kids remember so much. Anyway, this was a treat all of us enjoyed!

Triple Chocolate Coffee Brownies

Ingredients Needed:

All purpose flour/ Maida - 1 cup
Cocoa powder - 1/4 cup
Powdered Sugar - 1/3 cup
Baking powder - 1 tsp
Baking Soda - two pinches
White Chocolate compound, grated - 1/4 cup 
Dark chocolate compound grated - 1/4 cup
Instant coffee powder 2 tsp 
Warm Milk - 1/3 cup
Milk - 1/2 cup
Curd - 1/2 cup
Cooking Oil - 1/4 cup

Parchment paper to line the tray 

How to bake the brownies

Dissolve the instant coffee powder with warm milk in a bowl and keep it aside.

In a bowl, take the flour, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, whisk well. 

Then add the dissolved coffee, curd, oil and combine well.

Depending on the consistency, add the extra 1/2 cup milk. We want the consistency towards a thicker side.

Line the square baking tray with a parchment paper. Scoop half the batter into it. Using a spatula spread the batter.

First top it with grated white chocolate, then with dark chocolate. Finally top it again with the remaining batter. It will be quite hard to evenly spread but do it gently to spread all over.

Preheat the oven to 155 C, bake for 30 mins. Check if done and let it rest for 15 mins before removing it. 

Serve with warm milk for breakfast.

I even packed it for their school snack.
